Over the weekend I sewed a fall apron.

The fabric is from Jo-Ann’s and I used a Simplicity pattern.

I’ve attempted my first block from the Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt book.

I’m pretty pleased with my results. There are a few seams that don’t quite line up, and I’m not completely happy with my decision to use a different print for the center pinwheel instead of the same fabric for the background, but I’m fairly content with my first attempt. My plan is to make a few different blocks with a selection of Fall-esque fabrics that will become a tablerunner. Time will tell. . .

P.S. Fabric: center feather print fabric came from Portage Lake Quilt Shop in the U.P.; cream “lace” print is a FQ from Jo-Ann’s; red is possibly from Jo-Ann’s and a remnant of the quilt made for my mom; orange “kaleidescope” is a FQ from Jo-Ann’s
I purchased a new book for my sewing library from Jo-Ann’s (one of my favorite ways to use a 40% off coupon): Jelly Roll Sampler Quilts.

After seeing the wallet I had made, Lee requested one and pointed out a few fabrics at Jo-Ann’s that would be acceptable to him. I went with Blue Angels and modified the wallet pattern by halving it and adding a flap with a snap. Ta-dah!

Back in Tennessee, on my last visit to Jo-Ann’s (wipes away tear), I purchased the blue cupcake fabric. I had no plans for it, but I can never resist cupcakes. I thought I would never see the fabric on a bolt again as there aren’t any Jo-Ann’s within HOURS of my new home. Well, imagine my surprise when I saw the cupcake collection at our local Wal-Mart! I’m sure I startled Brendan with my shocked squeal in the fabric section of Wal-Mart. I promptly picked up each bolt (and may have hugged them a little) and made a purchase.

I’ll have to make something for my orange kitchen as Katie suggested (she was with me at the last visit to Jo-Ann’s when I purchased the blue fabric).

P.S. Yes, I’ll wait until after I finish my previously mentioned sewing projects.
While in Illinois, I went to Jo-Ann’s and picked up some cute fabric. I love the whimsical little windows and the cute birdcages actually have tiny little birds in them.

Look at this cute little half yard of gnomes from fabricworm.com. The polka dots came from Wal-Mart. I have some ideas for this stuff…

During my last week in Tennessee, in between packing and painting, I did a tiny bit of sewing. I decided my new apartment would need some new kitchen potholders! I used two different patterns from my two sewing books that were birthday presents: One-Yard Wonders and Amy Butler’s In Stitches. The fabric came from my stash. The pink cupcake fabric and brown polka dot material comes from Jo-Ann’s. The colorful stripes fabric was a clearance fabric at Hobby Lobby.
I had to visit my beloved Jo-Ann’s one last time before leaving for Michigan. I wasn’t expecting to purchase much, but I think the Devil was at work with a new shipment of fabric. Read the rest of this entry »
This weekend, in addition to the lanyard, I made a fold-up shopper. The pattern came from my new handbag book.

all folded up!
