Flannel Elephant

15 Aug

I made a little flannel elephant using my patchwork gifts book.

He is stuffed with scrap cotton quilt batting. The elephant print flannel is from Jo-Ann’s (back when I lived in Tennessee) and the brown polka dots on the ears is from Wal-Mart in the UP.

So cute!

Oops! I guess he needs a tail!

Nautical Quilt: 1st Block

01 May

Well, I tried out my first block, and look at how cute it is:

super adorable

I think I need to add a strip of “sky” across the top, and I plan on getting a solid blue to use for the sky. I think the sails don’t stand out as much as I’d like them to against that “net” print.

Nautical Quilt

30 Apr

I’m still waiting to get quilt backing and binding for my bedroom quilt. So, I think I’m going to go ahead and make a block for Brendan’s nautical quilt. The pattern is in a magazine called McCall’s Quick Quilts and it’s labeled “easy.” I’m a little nervous to do something more advanced than squares.

see the pretty fabric and the magazine pattern?

Wish me luck!

More Progress

21 Apr

Our new bedroom quilt is moving along. I’m definitely not moving as quickly with it as I was with my first one or with my mom’s, but I’m still making headway. I now have strips ready for my alternating rows:

I spent part of the weekend organizing my ribbon collection. Aren’t they pretty? They’re just waiting to embellish something.

All of my quilt blocks are complete and pressed! Now I just need to assemble my quilt top. I can’t decide which block is my favorite.

Which is your favorite?

The photo does NOT do these fabrics justice.

By the summer, we’ll be able to snuggle under a toasty warm quilt…

Tiff
