I shopped for our meal over the weekend. Isn’t the tiny turkey cute?

I didn’t want to wrestle with an entire turkey, so I used a recipe I had found in the newspaper a few weeks back. Turkey breast stuffed with basil, salt and pepper, and Camembert cheese and wrapped with prosciutto. It was DELICIOUS!

Brendan chose mashed potatoes as the side with pumpkin pie for dessert.

I’m pretty pleased with my results. There are a few seams that don’t quite line up, and I’m not completely happy with my decision to use a different print for the center pinwheel instead of the same fabric for the background, but I’m fairly content with my first attempt. My plan is to make a few different blocks with a selection of Fall-esque fabrics that will become a tablerunner. Time will tell. . .

It was a beautiful day. We would like to go earlier in the season next year and maybe hit up an orchard with cider and donuts. We still had fun, though.

I have plans to make an apple crisp for Brendan. I already bought the ice cream.

I ripped out the seams and used the pieces as a pattern. I even saved the elastic and reused it with my own cute lining. The fall fabric was purchased last fall at the Portage Lake Quilt Shop in the U.P. (It’s time I start de-stashing.)

Won’t it be perfect now for holding the candy for our neighborhood trick-or-treaters?

I purchased the little pumpkins at Hobby Lobby along with a garland of fall leaves that I cut up for the wreath. The mums are from Mom Sullivan purchased through Lee’s school. And everything else is from Michael’s.

I embellished the grapevine wreath with my trusty glue gun, fall leaves, miniature gourds, and some wired ribbon. I’m pretty pleased with the results. (Mom, you will have to show me how to make a wire-ribbon bow; yours are the best!)

Now I just wish I used the front door so I could enjoy my efforts more.

P.S. My faux pumpkins aren’t obviously fake looking, are they? I just really liked the idea of being able to reuse them every year since I have no real interest in carving the real ones or dealing with getting rid of them at the end of the season.

It’s been free motion quilted with little loops and squiggles throughout the block “frames” around the yellow squares.

I did a blanket stitch around the felt flora/fauna shapes with embroidery floss.

I love the backing fabric.

The binding was finished by hand and has mitered corners. After making the binding, I realized that every single scrap of fabric on this quilt is a print! My binding is the same “linoleum tile” from my ruffled cupcake apron.

After teetering between feelings for this quilt, I’ve decided that I LOVE it! I am very happy with the final result. I even slept under it the night I finished it, and I have used it since when I am chilly while viewing Netflix.

P.S. Next project: quilting Caer Sullivan!

After Sunday’s Drive, Brendan and I went to the Somero family farm, owned by the in-laws of one of the daughters of Brendan’s boss. Each autumn, the farm is open to the public. There is an annual corn maze, a pumpkin catapult, bonfire, and pumpkins and gourds for sale.

Before entering the maze, we were given an incomplete map that we were supposed to hole-punch with different shapes when we had reached certain points in the cornfield.

It was a scavenger hunt: complete with secret hole-punching stations! Brendan was the navigator, and we made it purposefully and safely through the labyrinth.

Once you completed the maze, you earned a prize: candy or a gourd. We both took a piece of candy. Since Brendan had also found the secret spots, we were entered into a drawing for a giant pumpkin!

It was a fun day. I love doing things to celebrate the season.
