More Japanese Fabric!

03 Nov

My darling sister-in-law sent me some more fabric from Japan! It’s so kawaii!

I have the perfect plan for it, too. But it’s secret and will take a while to execute as I am *making* myself finish certain sewing projects before starting any new ones (e.g. my Woodland Creatures quilt appliqué, my Caer Sullivan quilt, and the winter quilt top). * I really don’t want to be the lady with tons of unfinished quilts in her sewing room…

Domo arigato, Kristin, Jeremy, and Aeris!

Love,

Tiff

*As I told Brendan, I may not be allowed to start new projects before finishing these, however, I am, of course, allowed to stock up on fabric and investigate materials for future projects as I see fit. That totally sounds disciplined, right?

Winter Quilt

02 Nov

Back in Tennessee, I bought some holiday fabric from Hobby Lobby. I finally found some coordinating cotton here in the UP to start a quilt. The blue, cream, and brown is from Wal-Mart. The winter scene, cardinals, snowflakes, and pine-cones came from Hobby Lobby.

I think instead of a “Christmas” quilt, it will be a winter quilt since nothing is overtly Christmas. That way I can use it for the entirety of the UP’s long winter season. :)

Love,

Tiff

Gnome Blocks

14 Oct

There are babies-galore here in the UP. I’m glad it’s so much fun to sew for them. I used my latest fabric stash additions to make these cute little blocks.

More Fabric

07 Oct

While in Illinois, I went to Jo-Ann’s and picked up some cute fabric. I love the whimsical little windows and the cute birdcages actually have tiny little birds in them.

Look at this cute little half yard of gnomes from fabricworm.com. The polka dots came from Wal-Mart. I have some ideas for this stuff…

Love,

Tiff

Baby Shower Gifts

20 Sep

On Saturday I went to a baby shower for one of the daughters of Brendan’s boss. Rather than purchasing something from the few shops here, I sewed my gift (also appropriate for September as National Sewing Month!).

Forest Creatures Baby Tag Blanket

I love little forest creatures and Fall colors. This sweet little baby tag blanket features both! One side has a lovely brown owl-covered cotton material. The reverse is a lovely creme with leaves and forest creatures print. The tags are even on theme with brown woodgrain and owl-printed cream ribbon.

Check it out in my Etsy shop!

Tiff

I hope everyone’s machine is happily humming away in celebration of National Sewing Month. Mine certainly is. The first thing I have made this month has been a super cute ruffled apron!

Cupcake Potholders

31 Aug

During my last week in Tennessee, in between packing and painting, I did a tiny bit of sewing. I decided my new apartment would need some new kitchen potholders! I used two different patterns from my two sewing books that were birthday presents: One-Yard Wonders and Amy Butler’s In Stitches. The fabric came from my stash. The pink cupcake fabric and brown polka dot material comes from Jo-Ann’s. The colorful stripes fabric was a clearance fabric at Hobby Lobby.
