Craft Fair

12 Oct

Mom Sullivan and I attended a craft show. We didn’t see too many things that interested us, but I did come home with a few items.

A basket for the stairs. I’ve wanted one of these for a while now as I usually just set things on the steps to remind me to take them upstairs. Now it will maybe look neater and the items will stay contained.

The Nutcracker

06 Oct

Is it too early to start thinking about Christmas? I didn’t think so. That’s why I ordered tickets to see The Nutcracker at the Woodstock Opera House!

I can hardly wait!

Duke

04 Jan

Duke is my parent’s GSP (German Shorthair Pointer). If you don’t know him, he’s a pretty awesome dog. They got him as from a GSP Rescue a few years ago and he’s estimated to be about 5 years old now. He loves presents… actually more-so the wrapping paper. I can’t tell how many tiny pieces of paper we had to pick up off the floor after Christmas morning due to his energetic destruction of anything crinkly.

I like napping with him in front of the fireplace, though my back doesn’t agree with the hardwood floor. Then again Duke apparently doesn’t approve of my snoring…

Legos

03 Jan

I have always loved Legos. I can remember playing with them for as long as I can remember being a kid. Even at 27, I’m not at all averse to new Lego adventures. Tiff and I got the boys a Lego game for Christmas. Pirates…. what else? It somewhat emulates the “code” game, Mastermind. You have to guess the code the other player(s) has(ve) in their treasure chest. With only 6 colors, the game goes pretty quickly, but it’s still entertaining, and it’s Legos..so there’s plenty of room for expansion.

Christmas Eve Sledding

31 Dec

After breakfast, we all (except for Mom =0\ ) went sledding at Veteran’s Acres, a city park which has a pretty steep hill that is used annually for sledding by quite a large number of people. I remember as a much younger self, running across the flat section to pick up as much speed as possible before throwing myself down atop one of our sleds and plummeting towards the bottom of the hill.

We loaded up the sleds in The Beast™ to head to the park:

Handmade Christmas IV

30 Dec

For Brendan’s younger brothers, I sewed a pair of Angry Birds. They are characters from an extremely popular smart phone game. The pattern came from one of my favorite blogs, Obsessively Stitching.

They are really fun to throw at people. Brendan and I may have played with them before they were wrapped…

Love,

Tiff

P.S. This was also my first experience sewing with fleece; I can’t say I’m a fan.

P.P.S. Lee has requested that I make every other character–several times. I will have to oblige him ASAP.

Handmade Christmas III

29 Dec

For another of Jeanette’s handmade Christmas presents, I made my first attempt at foundation piecing to make this wolf pillow to match her Little Red Riding Hood quilt.

Handmade Christmas

28 Dec

After last Christmas, I decided that I wanted to try to sew as many Christmas presents as possible. I still think I have room for progress, but this year I did complete two winter quilts, one for each of our families.

I had meant to make a third for us so that we would all have matching quilts and be able to think of each other whenever we cuddled under them. Alas, I only had enough fabric for two. Darn–now I have to buy more fabric for our quilt. ;) Actually, I’m not sure if I’ll have time for that. I have several other sewing projects that are clamoring for my attention…

Love,

Tiff
