I know my cupcake has a plethora of blankets, but I just couldn’t resist making her one more . . .

I know my cupcake has a plethora of blankets, but I just couldn’t resist making her one more . . .

Since I am only five weeks away from my due date, people have been telling me I should probably pack my hospital bag and get ready to go. This means I need to pack my diaper bag as well… I finally bought a bottle of Dreft and did my first few loads of baby laundry. I was smiling the whole time. It smells so wonderful and I just giggled and teeheed my way through the tiny socks, miniature clothing, blankets, and burp cloths.

best load of laundry ever!
I only did a few needed-right-away items (yes, that included one of her tutus) just in case she ends up not needing newborn sizes. I figure the grandmas won’t mind going through her wardrobe and helping me wash it all when the cupcake arrives…

P.S. My lint trap was covered with PINK lint! It was awesome!
The sweet ladies at church had a baby shower for me on Saturday. Once again, I am overwhelmed by how people care. I was showered with generosity and love.

This past weekend I made my diaper bag. I used a pattern from a book that I got for Christmas three years ago. If the bag looks vaguely familiar, that’s because I’ve used the pattern before for a coworker’s diaper bag in the U.P.

My gorgeous fabric came from Hobby Lobby.
I wanted to make a colorful and possibly interactive baby playmat. I made this circus playmat with ribbon loops around the border so that plastic baby chains could be attached to it with toys on the end for some fun tummy-time for Baby Sullivan.

Using Heather Bailey’s Happy Stacker pattern and some fabric I had in my stash, I made some stacking rings for a boy Baby Sullivan.

Now this pattern required some finicky hand-sewing. Is it wrong to want a boy just so I don’t have to sew this again in pink? Just kidding, I’d happily use this pattern again for a little princess.

When I lived in Michigan, on each trip to Illinois I liked to visit some fabric shops with Mom Sullivan. On one of those excursions I found a Beatrix Potter alphabet panel for sewing into a book.
If Baby Sullivan is a girl… Cute little, pink baby shoes with puppies and flowers!
We are leaving the UP before three ladies I know give birth, so I sewed up some gender neutral burp cloths.
