Tennessee Friends

05 Jan

My darling friends in Tennessee sent me a lovely Christmas package. This may be my favorite part:

Sublime Stitching: Embroidered Effects by Jenny Hart, a PINK embroidery hoop, floss bobbins with rings, and several skeins of floss. The floss is an appreciated touch as I cannot get any here except for one limitedly-stocked shop that charges $0.65 per skein!!

Thank you, ladies!

Love,

Tiff

Handmade Christmas IV

30 Dec

For Brendan’s younger brothers, I sewed a pair of Angry Birds. They are characters from an extremely popular smart phone game. The pattern came from one of my favorite blogs, Obsessively Stitching.

They are really fun to throw at people. Brendan and I may have played with them before they were wrapped…

Love,

Tiff

P.S. This was also my first experience sewing with fleece; I can’t say I’m a fan.

P.P.S. Lee has requested that I make every other character–several times. I will have to oblige him ASAP.

Handmade Christmas

28 Dec

After last Christmas, I decided that I wanted to try to sew as many Christmas presents as possible. I still think I have room for progress, but this year I did complete two winter quilts, one for each of our families.

Knapp/Bowman edition

Sullivan

I had meant to make a third for us so that we would all have matching quilts and be able to think of each other whenever we cuddled under them. Alas, I only had enough fabric for two. Darn–now I have to buy more fabric for our quilt. ;) Actually, I’m not sure if I’ll have time for that. I have several other sewing projects that are clamoring for my attention…

Love,

Tiff

Handmade Christmas Ornament

24 Dec

The 2010 edition! I made little presents. I thought the Christmas fabric resembled wrapping paper, and each gift/ornament is tied with a sweet bow. Read the rest of this entry »

Winter Quilt Two

30 Nov

I am going to do a very simple pattern for my winter quilt. I think some of the prints are too pretty to cut into small pieces.

cut strips: I'm ready to piece!

The cardinal and winter scene fabric is cut into large rectangles. I then cut strips from the other fabrics. These strips will be sewn together in rows of three and then cut to match the size of the large rectangles. At least, that’s the plan thus far… With all of the snow flurries and colder weather, I am anxious to have my winter quilt for snuggling and retiring my Woodland Creatures until next fall.

Love,

Tiff
