I bought two educational books at the library for $1 each.

On Sunday I went apple picking for the first time. Brendan and I stopped at an orchard after church and picked a peck of red and golden delicious apples.
I purchased a new book for my sewing library from Jo-Ann’s (one of my favorite ways to use a 40% off coupon): Jelly Roll Sampler Quilts.

I’ve been frequenting our public library and wanted to make a pretty bag to carry all of my books. While at Hancock’s I saw this lovely print and knew it would be perfect.

This has been a summer for reading the books that have been on my must-read list for years! I read The Lord of the Rings and absolutely LOVED it. And recently I have finished Dracula.

It was pretty good. I’m afraid I was too familiar with the story to be surprised by any parts of it; I believe I would have enjoyed it more otherwise. Familiarity breeds contempt and all that. That being said, I’m still glad that I read the book.
Now, what shall I read next . . . ?

Jeremy and Kristin brought back two Japanese sewing magazines for me when they returned to the states. This one had a project that I recently attempted.

It had some English words, but most of it is Japanese characters and it even reads from right to left.
Thanks to the Amazon gift card from my mom and dad for Christmas, my sewing library has expanded:

So many patterns I am itching to try!

My darling friends in Tennessee sent me a lovely Christmas package. This may be my favorite part:

Sublime Stitching: Embroidered Effects by Jenny Hart, a PINK embroidery hoop, floss bobbins with rings, and several skeins of floss. The floss is an appreciated touch as I cannot get any here except for one limitedly-stocked shop that charges $0.65 per skein!!
Thank you, ladies!

Tiff
I’ve found myself going to the library quite a bit recently. I still can’t get over the view.

P.S. What have you been reading recently?
