I hadn’t planned on decorating for Christmas this year as we don’t have the space, and there isn’t really a spot for our little tree. However, it just didn’t feel like Christmas without any of the outward trappings (I wouldn’t be a good Whoville resident). So with the inspiring sounds of classical Christmas music playing, I decked our halls.

Actually, all I did was put a garland on the wall that separates our two living spaces. Cinnamon scented pine-cones, birds, gingerbread men, shotgun shell reindeer, carousels, shoes, leaves, and more cover our tree—er, garland. Since we’ve been married, I’ve only decorated a tabletop tree, and therefore stuck with mini ornaments. With my garland, I pulled out larger old favorites and some ornaments I’ve never been able to use on a small tree.

gingerbread man from Jeanette, one of my bird ornaments from last year, mini Rudolph (the movie) ornaments, silver reindeer, etc

silver airplane, Christmas shoe from Mom Sullivan, carousel horse from at least fourteen years ago, gingerbread man by Nette, etc

silver glitter shoe, Star Wars ornament from tree I decorated with Brendan when we were dating, shotgun shell reindeer by Nette, etc
I still have lots of Christmas stuff that will be waiting for next year to adorn our home, but I think my little garland is doing a good job spreading Christmas cheer in our compact apartment for this year.
Love,
Tiff
P.S. Can you tell that the phrase “less is more” never meant too much to me?

I LOVE IT!!! Ornaments are so much fun when they are unique and have special memories or loved ones attached to them. You did a beautiful job, but that never surprises me. We love you two!!

Even just a “little” Christmas helps us get in the spirit! I remember one year when the livingroom was our bedroom, our tree was garland making the shape of a tree on the wall with ornaments hanging. The kids loved it and we had a place for presents on Christmas morning. Enjoy just being together and healthy. We miss you!

I love Christmas garland in leiu of tree!- awesome. I did a windowsill this year and had forgotten how fun it was to look at all of the ornaments. My mom brought me a box of my childhood ornaments that used to adorn her tree and it was fun taking a look at some of the ones I had made or that Grandpop had sent us as kids. Thanks for sharing some of your special ornaments!
