I finally found some backing fabric for Jeanette’s quilt! I knew I wanted green, and I found this material at Jo-Ann’s.

I decided to add a strip of my leftover blocks to the back. I think it’s a nice surprise. The quilting goes around my “special” squares (the ones I kept whole on my disappearing nine-patch). I didn’t want to quilt over those squares because the fabric “makes” this quilt. I wanted Little Red Riding Hood, the forest creatures, and the forest to stand out as much as possible. I used green thread (Gutermann 760) and stitched a loopy scribble.

I even “hid” two hearts in the loops. My sister and I are bosom friends.

The binding is a dark brown (Jeanette loves green and brown). I actually made this binding! Woohoo for me! It was easier than I thought it would be. It’s so much more satisfying to not be limited by the prepackaged colors and sizes. Plus, cutting my own is cost effective! I’ve been converted.

"Little Red" the quilt
I love my Little Red (little red-headed sister, that is)!

I love that my two little girls are such pals and enjoy so many of the same things. Sisters are your lifetime best friends and can help you enjoy the good times of life and get you through the rough times. My sisters do that for me all the time.
Wonderful workmanship on the quilt princess!
