Woodland Creatures

29 Jun

Back in April, I bought this adorable fabric from Jo-Ann’s to make myself a quilt.

Edit: The far left fabric with the scrolling green pattern is from Hobby Lobby.

I love the little fox.

Aren't the bunnies cute?

Since I am waiting for the perfect backing for Jeanette’s quilt, I started it last week. I used a pattern from McCall’s Quick Quilts 2010 issue (the same issue that the “St. Brendan” pattern came from).

Here’s the quilt top. I ended up adding the mushroom fabric I used for my bag, and I didn’t use the light green polka dot material.

I’m not sure I like it. I think I should have used a darker fabric for the border. :-/ I guess even though individually I like the fabric, together they are too “warm”. I’ve always preferred cool colors.

I’m going to bind it with brown and I have no idea what I’ll use for the backing. Maybe once I quilt it, I’ll like it more…

Love,

Tiff

How do you just ‘whip’ these up???? It takes me longer to hem a skirt than it does for you to make a whole quilt!!! I know I’ve said this before but its so very true ….you are amazing. I love you.

Yellow is tricky…maybe that’s what is striking you as too much “warm” coloration. Have you thought about adding touches of applique to the yellow squares? Little green and brown owls based on the figures in the brown print might be nice, and they’d bring down the yellow factor! Great job using the pattern. We’d love to see a photo of the finished quilt with people enjoying it to possibly include on our Quick Pics page! Just email to mcq@creativecraftsgroup.com.
